Where can I find your cabinets?
How to choose your wine cabinet ?
How am I going to use my wine cabinet, where am I going to install it, what size cabinet will suit me, what capacity, what type of door, what internal layout? To find the ideal wine cabinet, it is important to ask the right questions.
Consult our guide.
Do uses differ from one wine cabinet to another?
A wine-maturing cabinet is a single-temperature cabinet that we recommend you set at 12°C. It allows you to mature your wine until it reaches its prime (storage >2 years).
A wine-serving cabinet (storage and bringing wine to the right temperature) allows you to bring champagne, red, white and rosé wine to an ideal serving temperature. (storage <2 years). There are several types: cabinets with 2 or 3 temperature zones and cabinets with a staggered temperature (temperature gradient from the top to the bottom of the cabinet).
What are your commitments?
To take care of wine, a half-finished product which only matures many years after it is purchased, in order to guarantee, by respecting the wine producer's intentions, optimal tasting conditions. But also, French manufacturing, durable products and excellent service.
Where are your products made ?
All our products have been manufactured in our French factory, in Fourmies (59) in the Hauts-de-France region since we started out in 1976: design, quality control.

Can I return Zalto glassware I have ordered online?
Yes, you have 14 days from reception to return them by contacting the London team at info@eurocave.co.uk and specifying your order reference.
As these products present a hygiene element, only glasses that have been left packed in their original wrapping paper and unused will be taken back and refunded.
How can I return Zalto glassware?
After notifying the team (please check conditions if you have bought in store or online), you can organise the return of the glassware in their initial packaging, at your own cost, return them to our London showroom in person, or ask us to organise a collection (the cost of which will be deducted from the refund).
How to take care of Zalto glassware?
For hand wash: use lukewarm water and a mild, scent-free detergent. Gently wash the glassware with a soft sponge or cloth. Do not hold the glasses by the foot whilst cleaning the bowl, this incurs a risk of twisting and snapping the stem: hold the bottom of the bowl instead whilst gently sponging the rim.
For mashine wash: choose a short, gentle cycle, ideally below 55℃. The glasses should not be touching each other and remain stable on the top rack. Eco-friendly, phosphate-free products are preferred, and rinse aid is advised.
Then, dry carefully: dry with a lint-free cloth immediately after washing, holding the bowl of the glass rather than the stem to avoid breakage.
What is the ideal temperature to store wine?
The ideal temperature to store wine is around 12 °C, with as little variation as possible.
Temperature stability is essential to preserve the ageing potential of wine. Excessive fluctuations can accelerate ageing and alter aromas.
Optimal storage conditions are:
• Temperature: 10 to 14 °C
• Humidity: 60% to 80%
• No direct light
• No vibrations
• Air renewal
EuroCave wine ageing fridges are designed to maintain these conditions consistently.

Why can the actual capacity of a wine fridge differ from the stated capacity?
The capacity of a wine fridge is generally calculated based on a standard 75 cl Bordeaux bottle format.
If your collection includes other types of bottles, the actual capacity may differ. For example:
• Burgundy bottles which are wider
• Champagne bottles
• magnums or larger formats
The internal layout also affects capacity:
• storage shelves to maximise the number of bottles
• sliding shelves for easier access
• display shelves
Adjusting the shelf configuration helps optimise the storage of your collection. EuroCave wine fridges are equipped with shelves designed to accommodate all bottle formats.
What is a shelf in a wine fridge?
A shelf is the surface on which bottles rest in a wine fridge.
At EuroCave, shelves are also designed to:
• absorb micro vibrations
• promote air circulation
• ensure stable and robust storage
The main types of EuroCave shelves are:
• Storage shelf
Allows bottles to be stacked to maximise capacity.
• Sliding shelf
Allows easy access to each bottle without moving the others.
• Display shelf
Positions bottles at an angle to showcase labels.
What is the ideal humidity level in a wine fridge?
The ideal humidity level in a wine fridge is between 60% and 80%.
This level of humidity helps preserve the elasticity of corks and prevents them from drying out.
If humidity is too low:
• the cork may dry out
• air may enter the bottle
• the wine may oxidise
If humidity is too high:
• mould may appear on labels or corks
EuroCave wine ageing fridges feature a humidity regulation system using embossed aluminium walls and natural condensation management. Real time display in our wine ageing fridges allows humidity monitoring at any time. An alarm alerts you if levels are too low or too high.
What is the purpose of the activated carbon filter in a wine fridge?
The activated carbon filter purifies the air entering the fridge to prevent external odours from altering the aromas of the wine.
Wine can be influenced by its environment as a very slight air circulation exists at the level of the cork.
The filter allows to:
• eliminate unwanted odours
• maintain clean air inside the fridge
• preserve the aromas of the wines
To ensure its effectiveness, it is recommended to replace the filter approximately once a year.
Can light damage wine?
Yes, prolonged exposure to light, particularly UV rays, can alter the aromas of wine.
This phenomenon is known as “light strike”. It can trigger chemical reactions that modify the aromatic profile of the wine.
To protect bottles:
• wine fridges limit exposure to light
• glass doors feature UV protection
• interior lighting uses UV free LED
These technologies allow bottles to be showcased without affecting their preservation.
How can you optimise bottle storage in a wine fridge?
To optimise space in a wine fridge, the alternating neck method can be used.
This technique consists of alternating the orientation of the bottles:
• one bottle with the neck facing forward
• the next with the neck facing backward
This arrangement allows:
• bottle shapes to fit together
• improved stability
• increased storage capacity
On some fixed shelves, this arrangement can save up to 30% of space
What is the difference between a freestanding wine fridge and a built in wine fridge?
A freestanding wine fridge can be installed in different rooms and requires space around the appliance for ventilation. A built in wine fridge is designed to be integrated into furniture thanks to front ventilation.
Freestanding wine fridge
• flexible installation
• rear ventilation
• requires space around the appliance
Built in wine fridge
• integration into a kitchen or furniture
• front ventilation
• aesthetic alignment with cabinetry
EuroCave built in wine fridges are specifically designed for this type of installation.
How do you maintain a wine fridge?
Regular maintenance helps ensure the performance of the fridge and proper wine preservation.
Here are some best practices:
Glass doors
Clean with a microfibre cloth and a non ammonia glass cleaner.
Leather or textile finishes
Dust with a soft dry cloth.
Interior aluminium walls
Clean with lukewarm water and mild soap, then dry carefully.
Regular maintenance also helps prevent the build up of odours or humidity.
Do you need to defrost a wine fridge?
Most modern wine fridges manage defrosting automatically.
In EuroCave wine fridges, recovered condensation contributes to maintaining the humidity level inside the fridge.
If an unusual build up of frost appears, for example after prolonged door opening, it is recommended to:
- switch off the fridge
- leave the door open for approximately 24 hours
- clean the interior of the fridge
This operation can be carried out once a year during general maintenance.
How long can wine be stored in a wine fridge?
Wine can be stored for several years in a wine fridge if temperature, humidity and stability conditions are respected.
Storage duration mainly depends on the type of wine:
• ageing wines: 10 to 30 years or more
• standard red wines: 5 to 10 years
• white wines: 3 to 10 years
• rosé wines: 1 to 3 years
EuroCave wine ageing fridges recreate the conditions of a natural wine cellar to allow wines to improve over time.
Does a wine fridge consume a lot of electricity?
A wine fridge generally consumes little electricity, especially when used under normal installation conditions.
Consumption mainly depends on:
• the capacity of the fridge
• the ambient temperature
• the number of door openings
• the insulation of the appliance
EuroCave wine fridges are designed to offer optimised energy consumption while maintaining stable storage conditions.
Can a wine fridge be installed in a kitchen?
Yes, a wine fridge can be installed in a kitchen provided you choose a suitable model.
Built in wine fridges are specifically designed to integrate into kitchen cabinetry thanks to:
• front ventilation
• dimensions adapted to cabinetry niches
• aesthetic integration with furniture
EuroCave built-in models allow a wine fridge to be integrated directly into the kitchen layout.
Is a wine fridge noisy?
A wine fridge produces a slight noise linked to the operation of the compressor, but it generally remains very discreet.
The noise level depends on:
• the model
• the installation
• the adjustment of the fridge feet
• the stability of the shelves
EuroCave wine fridges are designed to limit vibrations and ensure quiet operation, suitable for living spaces.
What size wine fridge should you choose?
The choice of wine fridge size mainly depends on the size of your collection and your wine purchasing habits.
It is often recommended to choose a wine fridge slightly larger than your current needs in order to anticipate the growth of your collection.
EuroCave wine fridges are available in different capacities, allowing storage from a few dozen to several hundred bottles. The internal layout can also evolve with the addition of storage shelves or sliding shelves to adapt to your needs.
Why should wine bottles be stored horizontally?
Wine bottles must be stored horizontally in order to keep the cork in contact with the wine.
This position allows:
• to prevent the cork from drying out
• to preserve the seal of the bottle
• to limit the oxidation of the wine
EuroCave shelves are designed to keep bottles in a stable position suitable for storage.
What is the difference between a wine ageing fridge and a wine serving fridge?
A maturing wine fridge is designed to store wines for several years at a stable temperature of around 12 °C. A wine serving fridge maintains different wines at their ideal serving temperature thanks to multiple temperature zones.
A wine ageing fridge recreates the conditions of a natural wine cellar to support the development of wine over time. It ensures:
• stable temperature
• appropriate humidity levels
• no vibrations
• protection from light
• proper air circulation
A wine serving fridge offers several temperature zones, generally between 5 °C and 20 °C, allowing you to store simultaneously:
• white wines
• rosé wines
• Champagnes
• red wines ready to drink
